June 2026 Lots of room and good separation between floors for two couples. Fantastic ocean view and nearby to an eagle perching on a tree. Well stocked kitchen. Close to the marina for fishing charters.
May 2026 My adult kids and I had a long awaited weekend at Fish Tales Cottage and really enjoyed our stay! We were super comfortable - the kitchen was very well stocked, and the location was fantastic. We spent part of one day at Botanical Beach and hiked down part of the Juan de Fuca trail. We walked to the pub for a meal and had great barbeques on the deck. Denise our host was super responsive to any questions I had and touched base during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. Very happy with our experience!

Mar. 2026 Fish Tales Cottage was awesome. I would highly recommend this as an excellent accommodation for a family holiday in the Port Renfrew area. My kids loved the bunk beds and the art supplies in the downstairs sitting room, and we all appreciated the ocean view while we ate our meals by the large windows upstairs. The space was very bright and comfortable, and Denise was a very friendly, communicative and accommodating host. We very much enjoyed our stay 🙂.

Oct. 2025 My family and I have stayed at Fish Tales twice in two years.. Fish Tales is a comfortable space with a great den for the kids to escape to on rainy days. Denise is very responsive and was accommodating to our last-minute change in plan. We will be back!

Aug. 2025 At natures door! Eagles soaring above the ocean and landing in the old growth directly in front of the property. Quick access to our boat at Bridgeman's. Walking distance to everything. This property has a great layout for families and everything by you need to make a special meal.

May 2025 We had such an amazing time. This place had many wonderful touches that made us feel like home. The playroom was a hit with the kids. Space was more than enough for our group and we loved just sitting out in the patio and making bbq. Will definitely be back!

Mar. 2025 I would definitely stay here again. The view was so beautiful - big windows and deck to enjoy the ocean and forest views. The place was spotless, with nice furnishings and decor and the layout was perfect for our group of two moms and 4 teens/pre-teens. We loved that there was a TV/games room downstairs where the kids could hang out while we enjoyed the quiet upstairs. Great to have two sofa beds too for flexible sleeping arrangements. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook great meals. There’s so much to do in the area around here.
Feb. 2025 We absolutely loved this place. It’s my second time renting it. First for my friends and we all want to come back again.
Jan. 2025 Cabin was exceptionally comfortable and equipped with everything anybody would need. It has one bedroom and bathroom upstairs plus a fully equipped kitchen and a living room. Also two bedrooms downstairs and a living room, bathroom, laundry room. Not really a cabin, more like a fully livable house with every comfort reasonable.
Nov. 2024 Cozy home, as described. The kitchen was very well stocked for cooking. Lots of great board game options that we enjoyed trying. Would stay again.
Oct. 2024 My family of 7 had a very comfortable stay at Fish Tales. There was enough space for the kids to retreat and they enjoyed the Wii Sports console. the view was spectacular with plenty of seating on the deck for everyone. very clean and well-stocked. We hope to come back next year.

Aug. 2024 As a family of seniors, parents and two children this place was absolutely perfect. From its location to the local beaches, to the amenities provided in house and the view of the inlet, it was relaxing, comfortable, easy to access and a joy to stay after a long day of exploring. We absolutely adored it and would love to stay here again!

June 2024 We spent two great days at Fishtales Cottage. The house is furnished with a lot of love and you can really find everything you need. We were able to sit on the terrace and enjoy the views. Games, books and a Wii passed the hours well for us. We would definitely book the accommodation again and again.
May 2024 Everything you're reading about this place is true! We were especially delighted with there being an upstairs sitting area and a downstairs sitting area. Perfect for two groups traveling together who want to spend time together... and then *not* spend time together.

The tv room downstairs provided a place for the teenagers to hang out and the deck off the kitchen was great for the adults to enjoy happy hour with the beautiful views! The ability to have a fire outside was also really nice. Denise was a great host! I would definitely recommend this place if visiting Port Renfrew!

Feb. 2024 Beautiful place! Had a lovely stay with my family. We made some nice home cooked meals in the fully stocked kitchen. We also enjoyed lunch at the pub near by. We enjoyed the hikes and beaches close by and even took a drive to see Big Lonely Doug - a 1000 yr old douglas fir. The views from the balcony were spectacular. Wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you for our stay Denise! Highly recommend!

Nov. 2023 Such a beautiful location! We spent a weekend together as an extended family and it was such a great weekend of connection. Port Renfrew is very remote so it’s more appropriate for someone who wants to really get away, and hike or surf rather than someone looking for spas, restaurants and a tourist location like Tofino. There was a general store if needed though.

Sept. 2023 Our family of 5 including two kids enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed eating dinner on the deck with a lovely water view. The kids enjoyed the Wii when we were resting in between hikes. Would stay again.

July 2023 When we walked into Fish Tales our entire family said “WOW!”. The view would be worth it alone. On top of the amazing location and views we had everything we needed in this adorable home. Very clean and comfortable including the beds with quality linens. Fun games to play and the downstairs room was perfect for our teens when they needed space. Everything we needed to cook a delicious dinner with local salmon. Highly recommend this wonderful home!

Jan. 2023 We loved our stay at Fish Tales. The house was inviting and comfortable. Décor is beautiful and the kitchen, laundry, bathrooms and bedrooms are all very well stocked. The view is spectacular . Several beautiful beaches and forests are a 10 to 30 minute drive, and trails in the area are well marked. The Renfrew Pub is nearby and a nice hangout. I would return with family, or a small group of friends.
Dec. 2022 We stayed before Christmas time and Boxing Day, and made it through a couple of Port Renfrew power outages. The cottage had plenty of flashlights, candles, umbrellas for use, and most importantly, a snow shovel! We spent time at the local pub where we were entertained. (The friendly locals seemed to know exactly when the power would come back on which was very helpful.) Every person we met were welcoming and provided great advice. Denise was extremely helpful during this time and throughout our stay. Our vacation was incredible, the views: spectacular. The cabin is modern and furnishings new; the beds/bedding comfy. Exploring the roads and other towns were an adventure. Finding unexplored areas and taking the pictures encapsulated the beauty of our stay. This place provided the perfect setting to end the year. I highly recommend it!

July 2022 Just a wonderful stay in port renfrew with a water view, great location and impeccably furnished. lovely/cozy indoors and amazing outdoor deck for dining and napping in the sun :) crisp and clean bath and bed linens, comfy beds in a great spacious layout to accommodate 4 of us, and an incredibly well stocked kitchen all made it a real joy to stay here. super friendly and responsive host with lots of info to ease us into our stay. highly recommend and would stay here again!!
July 2022 A great location with beautiful views. Close to the beach which is a fabulous way to spend a day. Kitchen is fully stocked and you will be able to find whatever you need. Well kept rooms and two bathrooms make this place perfect for a bigger group.

May 2022 This is a great place to stay with a group, lots of space for sleeping and hanging out. The kitchen was very well equipped for cooking at home and enjoying the view. We used the BBQ and it worked well. A great spot to explore the natural area from. Denise was great about responding to my questions and sent very detailed instructions before we arrived which really helped.

March 2022 We had a beautiful stay at Fish Tale Cottage. It’s no wonder she’s rated as a super host, she has provided all the extra touches you need to have a great vacation. The home was meticulous clean, wonderful views and was well stocked with toys, puzzles, books, colouring to entertain everyone in the rain, and lots of umbrellas if you decided to venture out into the rain. Would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a beautiful peaceful retreat.
February 2022 We had an amazing stay! The cabin is even nicer than pictured and there's a lot to do in the area. Oh, and the beds are so cozy... both ourselves and the other couple that stayed with us commented on them. there's one queen bedroom on the upper level, attached bathroom, kitchen, and patio. There's another king bedroom on the lower level, along with a another adorable living area, and a 2nd bedroom with bunk beds. there's access to the 2nd exterior area through full height sliding doors in both the bedroom and living area. supplies to have a lovely fire outside is also provided. We loved it:)

Dec. 2021 Me and my family had a great time for our December stay at Fishtales cottage! The property had all the utensils needed for us to do home cooking (coffee, popcorn, toaster and even a pancake pan!) especially for Christmas dinner. It was so quiet with beautiful views of the bay each morning and is situated close to botanical bay, Avatar grove (big cedars and fir trees) and a number of nature trails and beaches. The property is very dog friendly (dog bowls were even left in a draw to use)our dog had a great time going on long walks each day and enjoyed the space of the upstairs. The owner was always there to answer any questions or concerns I had via email, she even left us a box of chocolates for our arrival. I would highly recommend to nature lovers, people looking for some family time, dog owners and anyone looking for a relaxing break from work.

Aug. 2021 My family had come to Port Renfrew for our 3rd annual family fishing trip. It was our first time in the 'Handsome Dan's complex' and Denise's Fish Tales cabin was the perfect choice for 7 people! The cabin is located one row up from the waterfront cabins, which allows for a wider, unobstructed view of the ocean, mountains and beach from the very large front deck. We spent many hours on that deck! There is parking for two vehicles (won't fit longer trucks), but there is a strip of parking right across the road for those longer vehicles. The cabin's furniture and beds were very comfortable, there was enough linens for all, the kitchen contained variety of dishes and utensils for cooking, and there were basic items like coffee, sugar, tea, oil, and a variety of spices. There is one bedroom upstairs, and 3 sleeping areas downstairs. A note to light sleepers: the floors are wood, so if you are sleeping downstairs while others are moving around upstairs, you will hear footsteps. Not a huge deal to most people. The children were occupied by exploring the complex, playing some of the many games provided and watching movies. We did not use the laundry room, but it would have been useful if we were there for more than two nights, or if the weather was not favourable. There is also a coffee shop and small restaurant within a 5 min walk (it's driveway is right next to Baird Rd.). All in all, it was a great stay and we would definitely return.
